Our Mission

Our focus is on the individual when developing services and delivery. For this purpose, our work is based on three key aspects:

Since 1882 Saint John of Gods has been a leader in the field of care. Saint John of God himself was one of the most important health care workers dedicated to the poor, sick and those suffering from mental health problems. The legacy of our founder is a mission of hospitality, compassion and care that has endured and grown over five centuries.

Community care has always been our focus. The emphasis on hospitality as part of our ethos comes from a deep understanding of how the values of hospitality can impact on our own lives and the lives of everyone around us. We instill a sense of this importance in each of our workers; from nurses to maintenance staff, psychiatrists to administrators. This can be seen across our services and we strive to uphold this standard as John of God would have. His work continues to inspire every day.

Every person is worthy of help and every one of us is responsible for our neighbour. We ensure the highest quality of care based on individual needs for our service users.

Person-Centred Care

To meet the complex and diverse needs of people using our services, we have implemented a holistic approach where our clients are equal partners in the planning and development of their care. In a community based care environment people’s wishes and family circumstances are carefully taken into account to provide the most appropriate solutions to their needs.

If you would like to learn more about our work or a particular service, please see the what we do section at the top of this page.

Saint John of God responds to unmet need in the field of care. We drive positive change and pursue programme development with clear goals and outcomes. Using strategic research and tools, we make change happen in challenging environments and developing societies. We strive to adapt to the constant change in the field of care. We empower those in our care and improve the well-being of our service users and in turn, the wider community.

Our Values, Compassion – Justice – Excellence – Respect – Hospitality, ensure we help everyone regardless of race, gender or faith.
